How To Play

A: Z key / B: X key / Start: Enter key / Select: Shift / Directions: WASD or Arrow Keys

*Note: Make sure that caps lock is off or inputs will not register

Each turn, you can cast up to 3 spells from your Spellbook. Spells are cast by adding gems to your Gem Pool and then opening your spellbook.  After confirming your choices in the Spellbook,  each gem in your Gem Pool will cast an additional basic effect.  Each gem has a different effect and their strength is determined by their respective Mastery Levels (for now, the default value is 5 for each gem).

Gems & Stats

  • Ruby: Deal damage to your opponent. Ruby damage against shields is reduced by 50%.
  • Sapphire: Deal shield damage to your opponent. Sapphire damage against unshielded opponents is reduced by 50%.
  • Emerald: Gain or strengthen your shield. Shields reduce Ruby damage and protect its caster’s health.

In-Game stats correspond to various values:

  • Ruby Mastery: Determines the strength of your Rubies
  • Sapphire Mastery: Determines the strength of your Sapphires
  • Emerald Mastery: Determines the strength of your Emeralds
  • Resilience: Determines your maximum health (Health = Resilience x 6)
  • Fortitude: Determines your maximum shield (Shield = Fortitude x 4)
  • Weight: Determines how quickly you are able to act between turns
  • Willpower: Determines the maximum amount of AP that you can accumulate during battle (up to 6)
  • Perspective: Determines the outcome of chance-based actions and other unique effects


Equipment

As you travel, you will obtain various Items:

  • Catalyst (Staffs and Wands): Allows you to cast gems and spells. Affects Ruby, Sapphire. and Emerald Masteries.
  • Garment (Cloaks and Robes): Protects you from harm. Affects Resilience, Fortitude, and Weight.
  • Accessory (Amulets and Rings): Helps you channel magic from gems. Affects Willpower and Perspective.

Additional Notes

  • Breaking the enemy's shield will stun them briefly, but be careful as you can be stunned as well
  • Press Select during your turn to view additional information about various on-screen elements such as the enemy's health or stats
  • Spells can be assigned and their effects viewed in the Journal. Try experimenting with different combinations!

I quite like the system. There are enough variables and options to choose from that it makes it quite tactical in a way. The health and armor system makes me think of Divinity original sin one and two a bit. Which are probably one of my favorite rpgs.
